What Is the Licensing Process?

  • You must create an account with BEMS (State licensing agency) online and pay the fee (read under Additional fees above). We’ll walk you through creating this account during the first few days of class, but you must, within the first 14 days of class, create your account, and you will be required to submit and upload the following to BEMS:
    • A current AHA Basic Life Support CPR certification. If you need one, we will provide you one during the duration of your academy as a part of the academy experience!  Feel free to take this class before your EMT class starts, or from elsewhere for additional money. Due to upload and processing time by the state of Utah, it must be completed no later than 14 days into the class so you can Test with your classmates and academy mates!
    • Evidence of a current TB test (within the past year). Utah's Paramedic offers these onsite for $10 during class the first few days of class! You can add a TB Test to your cart at class registration, purchase one through the online Shop, or bring cash or card to class to pay! TB tests are generally performed during the first few days of your academy so that we can get it uploaded to BEMS.
    • Obtain and pass a criminal background check, conducted by BEMS as part of the application process. Part of the BEMS fee covers this check.

**NOTICE**

This is an adult mature oriented class regarding the human body. there will be lesson days on ObGyn and baby delivery towards the end of class, as well as there are anatomy and physiology classes and human reproduction, Life Span, and Age Group Vital sign ranges, and you will see anatomical body parts.  Utah's Paramedic doesn't want anyone to get offended or embarrassed. A huge part of EMS is trauma and trimming clothes away from the patient to see injuries that may lay below clothing like gunshot wounds and knife wounds. We will make this as great a learning experience as possible and want to prepare you for things you will encounter on your ride alongs, and in this line of work.
